My old PCP decided to change his medical practice and I had to find a new PCP (long story).
I met with my sister-in-law's doc and he agreed to take me on. He said State law prevents him from prescribing narcotics long term so he referred me to a
different PM doc.

Anyway, I told her (the PM doc) that I'd been taking Darvocet every three to four hours and it wasn't helping anymore. The first thing she tried was
Lortab 7.5/500 but only one pill twice daily ... last...

As if it isn't enough that I take 3 oral meds for my ARC, and 1 for my blood pressure, my new doc had to go and do a Cholesterol screening on me as well. Now I take one for it. Guess he thought 288 was too high for total count. Geez, where does it all stop? and what are all these doing to my liver and kidneys? I don't want my ARC treated now with the future holding kidney disease or...

I was diagnosed with arachnoiditis over a year ago. I have the spinal stimulator and take Tramadol, Lexapro, Lunesta. One of my biggest problems is dealing with the headaches. I have a severe headache about 30% of the time. I am convinced that these headaches are a part of the conidtion but my primary Care Dr. insist they are tension headaches. Does anyone else suffer from these headaches as I do? And what do you take for the pain? I find the most effect thing is good old aspirin for...

Hi, all -

I'm relatively new to the group. I was officially dx with A & CES in August after having a L4/L5/S1 fusion and laminectomy in Dec '05 to correct a grade 4 congenital spondylolisthesis. I'll admit that the worst part of everything is just getting decent medical care after my surgeon ignored all my post-surgical complications, then left his practice. The pain is bad enough without doctors not wanting to treat arachnoiditis or CES.

I have recently decided along...

hallo folks,
i am a friend of an arachnoid sufferer. we haven't been friends that long, so all this is very new to me. i have been trying to source as much information for her as i can. we live in cape town south africa, and there doesn't seem to be support groups here, or very much info. (ie different medication and how it works). Also she is really battling to find a compassionate pain control specialist. the medical profession generally seems to be very cavalier with pain control and...

I contracted the disease Arachnoiditis as a direct result of a procedure given to me by the V.A. Hospital on February 25, 1998. I received this life-altering gift from an intern, Mr. Gregory P. Staviski, while he was learning to administer epidurals. The solution in the epidural was being used for off-label purposes, even though in very clearly states that the solution (DEPO MEDROL) is NOT TO BE USED IN THE SPINE. I have now been thrown into a dark abyss with nothing to accompany me but...

Lyrica Neurontin

Need any info regarding switching from Neurontin to Lyrica. Lyrica is finally available in the U.S., but Pfizer has no information available, (believe it or not), on how go go about making the switch. One group at Pfizer actually suggested gradually weaning off the Neurontin over a weeks time and then starting on low dosage of Lyrica. (Like I could stand the pain going from 2000 mg a day to none.) Another group suggested tapering down the Neuronin and at the same time adding low dosage of...

Haven't been here in a while, sorry about that but it's been a rough few weeks. We're in that rainy, overcast everyday part of the year that makes each day feel like I've been in a car wreck.

I saw my PCP yesterday and told him the Cymbalta IS helping, just nowhere near enough. In all fairness, I think 60mgs of Cymbalta gives me as much relief as the 25mu Duragesic patches did and MORE than the 40mg Oxycontin did without all that blasted physical fatigue. It does make me really...

My husband has been having back trouble for the past 11 years. It all started one day while we were golfing. He bent down to get a ball out of the hole and his back locked. It was then he needed his first back surgery on his L-4, L-5 disc. Within a year it herniated again and he had his second back surgery. Up until October of 2003 he has had countless MRIs, X-rays, CT scans, discograms and epidural injections.
I have been taking 320 mg of Oxycontin for the last 6-7 years but recently spoke to my Dr. about it's continuing effectiveness. Not only because it doesn't seem to be managing the pain as well ... I believe I am becoming 'tolerant' but also undesirable side effects like stomach problems, constipation, periodic sexual difficulties and sleeplessness... to name a few. My pain medication was changed about one month ago to MS Contin (Morphine Sulfate) 300 mg. I really don't know that this is...
